At Empowered Women in Trades (EWIT) we are dedicated to revolutionising the trades industry and creating a future where women and non-binary people are empowered, represented and thriving in skilled trades careers.
Women only hold 1 out of 100 industry trades apprenticeships.
Female representation in trades is only 3% with some trades such as Carpentry (ANZSCO331212) and Welding (ANZSCO322313) only having 1% female representation.
47% have left or thinking of leaving. The percentage of female tradies that have left or thinking about leaving is due to lack of respect / harassment.
Labour shortages have been identified in 100 of 293 occupations nationally, with the technicians and trades workers group showing a labour shortage across every state in the country.

Our programs, services and events are a gateway to a world of opportunities and support for women in trades.
At Empowered Women in Trades (EWIT), we believe tradespeople are the everyday heroes of our communities delivering clean water, safe homes, and the infrastructure that keeps our country running.
But beyond the work they do, bringing more women into trades changes lives in ways most people never see.
I’ve spoken to women who’ve entered the trades and no longer face the heartbreaking choice between feeding themselves or their children.
They’ve gone from living week to week to building stable, prosperous futures. By empowering women into trades, we’re not only addressing Australia’s critical skills shortage we’re breaking cycles of financial hardship and driving our nation’s economic growth.
Together, we can create a stronger, more inclusive industry and a brighter future for all.
Why recognition matters, and why we need you.
At Empowered Women in Trades (EWIT), we believe that recognising industry leaders and trailblazers isn't just a celebration - it's a catalyst for change. These individuals and organisations are shifting the narrative, breaking barriers, and actively building an industry where all people, regardless of gender, are empowered to thrive.
Our annual gala is more than a night of accolades. It’s a movement. It’s a chance to shine a light on the bold innovators who are doing the real work to move our sector forward. When we honour them, we elevate the standard for what inclusive, human-centred leadership looks like.
Your sponsorship isn’t just about brand visibility, it’s about being part of something bigger. It signals to the industry, to our future workforce, and to the community that your organisation stands for progress, equity, and impact.
Join us in recognising the leaders who are shaping the trades of tomorrow.
Together, we can drive the change we want to see.
